Azad Kashmir Govt to Launch Bullet Train from Muzaffarabad to Islamabad

Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has made a huge announcement for the daily commuters. During his budget speech in AJK assembly, he said that government will launch a bullet train from Muzaffarabad to Islamabad.

He stated that a bullet train will soon be started between the two cities. However, he did not reveal further details about this mega project in his speech. If launched, the train will reduce the travel between these two cities significantly. People would be able to reach their destinations in a matter of very few hours.

But, as mentioned earlier, there no details of this project, how it will work, who will sponsor it and when it will start and complete. So, hope for the best and we wish that this project will become reality from the papers.

This is not the first such project to be planned. In fact, the government already announced an electric train from Islamabad to Murree in 2020. Then-Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry tweeted that an electric railway from Islamabad airport to Murree is in the works. “We have launched a project study and spoken with the planning ministry about it.” He went on to say that this idea will alter the entire landscape of travel and tourism. The statement is part of the government’s policy to encourage electric vehicles in the country.

The announcements of such megaprojects have proven to be more of a political statement in the past, but we hope that this time, the Azad Kashmir project will become a reality.
